"Students Driving Education"

TELL YOUR SCHOOL’S TECHNOLOGY STORY

An important goal of TechTopia is for you to educate city and county officials, state legislators, central office and school staff, community leaders, and local universities about your schools’ educational technology needs. You and your students can help by writing a “technology story” and bring it to the TechTopia event to distribute to your legislators and other visitors stopping at your demonstration table. This story should highlight your project and provide an overview of technology use in your school.

Please take a minute to submit your project and incorporate these points:

– A brief description of your project.

– The integration subjects that support your project.

– The (ISBE/NETS) standards your project addresses, if any.

– A list of technologies and tools and how they are used by your students. Also, describe how much is available in your school.

– Where did the idea of this project originate? Has it been done before?

– How has technology improved your ability to teach concepts to students?
Include quotes or comments by students who enjoy using technology.

– Describe how much technology is available in your school.

– Imagine what you would be able to accomplish if additional funds for technology were available.

– What would happen if technology funds designated for your cut were cut? How would this affect existing tech programs?

– (Optional) Team leader presents a two to three minutes video about the project impact on learning.

– (Optional) One student team member presents a two to three minute video about the impact of technology on their learning.

We ask that you provide a copy of your story to your attendees when they come visit you. Please also provide one copy to the TechTopia staff when registering at the event May 20th. Plan to bring 100 copies.

If possible, please also email us an electronic version or URL of your “technology story.” Email it to planning committee, at TechEd@cps.k12.il.us. We would like to post it on our TechTopia website.
